My Health Journey

This work is deeply personal to me.

I’ve experienced mold illness and the profound nervous system dysregulation that can come with it.

My journey with chronic health issues began at the age of 19 and lasted for over 15 years, when nobody was really talking about toxic mold or the nervous system’s impact on health.

My symptoms were so numerous, they filled a whole page. I was severely chronically fatigued well before I developed insomnia. I had brain fog so thick it was like having cotton balls in my brain (try being pre-med with that going on!). I had an ever-growing list of food intolerances, chemical sensitivities, light, sound, and EMF sensitivities. Eventually, I developed flushing, hives and other rashes, anxiety, depression, and more (oh my!) As time went on, I learned that I had a myriad of chronic infections (fungal, tick-borne, viral, parasitic, SIBO, and SIFO, as well as hormonal imbalances, mast cell activation syndrome, and so much more!

From that experience, I know what it’s like to:

  • Feel wired, exhausted, and unable to sleep

  • Feel like your body is on fire, and your brain took a long vacation.

  • Just barely get through every day for years on end.

  • Be sure your body is betraying you, but have no idea why

  • Be told it’s all just anxiety or depression

  • Be blamed for “manifesting” your illness

  • Be terrified about whether you’ll ever get well

  • Try to piece together answers from conflicting information

  • Feel completely alone in the struggle

Getting so sick a young person, and getting no answers from doctors, is what led me to become a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist…and then to treating hundreds of others with complex chronic illness.

Helping hundreds of others uncover the root causes of their own illnesses, is what made it obvious that toxic mold illness and nervous system dysregulation are absolute epidemics among the chronically ill…and often the biggest obstacles to healing

Eventually, I did get better, and along the way, I learned what it takes to heal from toxic mold exposure and nervous system dysregulation. And interestingly enough, it can take something different to heal from mold each time (I’ve been through it more than once!)

What I discovered, both personally and professionally, is that in many cases, complete healing requires more than just removing exposure or following a supplement protocol. It requires supporting the whole system.

Experience

I am a mold-literate practitioner trained in approaches inspired by clinicians such as Neil Nathan, Jill Crista, and Andrew Campbell.

My work is also deeply informed by my experience helping hundreds of patients with chronic illness recover.

My brain rewiring and nervous system work builds on training through Eutaptics (certified level 3 practitioner) and study of DNRS (Dynamic Neural Retraining System), the Gupta Program, Joe Dispenza’s Work, Heartmath techniques, Polyvagal Theory, John Sarno’s work, Internal Family Systems, Alan Gordon’s work, Magnetic Mind, MAP Method, and many other modalities of neuroplasticity, mind-body and emotional healing.

After working with many one-on-one clients using the brain rewiring tools I learned, I co-created the Wired for Wellness Program, a neural retraining program specifically designed for those with chronic illness, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. This program dramatically supported my client’s results by providing more robust nervous system education and a plethora of guided neural retraining processes that were easy to use in everyday life.

After four years of helping to run that program, I felt called to focus more deeply on helping people with toxic mold illness using both my naturopathic and nervous system expertise, since that’s what healing has required for me, and for so many of my other clients/patients with mold illness.

Over time, I’ve seen that the most effective healing happens when we move beyond rigid protocols and instead support the body and nervous system in a holistic, individualized way.

  • A lover of nature - I love hiking in the wilderness, biking, kayaking, and fishing.

  • A dog mom and lover. I have two sweet pups that light up my life and keep me young.

  • A builder – my husband and I are currently designing a mold-resistant home. Previously, we converted a short school bus into a camper by ourselves.
